Qualifications and Experience

 

Essential:

 

  • Experience within a Duty Manager’s role
  • 5 GCSEs including English & Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent qualification
  • Professional and Customer focused
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Excellent  communication and listening skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team
  • High level of IT proficiency
  • Flexible working and a genuine willingness to help guests and colleagues in the hotel

 

Desirable:

 

  • Hotel management degree or diploma
  • Experience within the hospitality industry

 

Purpose of the Role:

 

The Duty Manager will work with the General Manager and the Heads of Department to supervise, motivate and support all the team in line with the hotel standards ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining customer satisfaction

 

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the existing management team in delivering successful operations and achieving the hotel objectives
  • Ensure a safe and hospitable environment for customers and staff
  • Assist in monitoring staff rosters to ensure appropriate cover for the levels of business
  • Assist staff with training to the standards agreed
  • Comply with the Hotel’s Health & Safety policy & assist management to comply with all legal Health & Safety requirements, & report any breech of the policy
  • Comply with the Hotel Fair Employment policy & assist Management in implementation of this policy, & report any breech of the policy
  • Effectively communicate all relevant information to Management & other departments promptly & accurately
  • Be aware of all emergency panels in Reception & evacuation procedures
  • Ensure that all staff report for duty on time in the correct uniform & groomed to the agreed standards
  • Be aware of future business & ensure proper planning is in place to meet guest’s expectations
  • Ensure maximum room occupancy & room rates, in conjunction with the Reservations & Sales departments
  • Ensure all sales are accurately recorded through agreed hotel procedures
  • Ensure all payments are received & recorded accurately through the agreed hotel procedures
  • Investigate & report any inaccuracies in Reception and Food & Beverage staff banking
  • Be aware of all departmental procedures
  • Ensure all staff follow the departmental procedures
  • Review departmental procedures to ensure the most effective & efficient running of the department
  • Cover night shifts as and when required
  • Comply with all reasonable requests from Management
  • Be aware of the Hotel standards of operations
  • Resolve problems & complaints in an effective manner to the Hotel’s & guest’s satisfaction or communicate the matter to Management
  • Accurate record keeping in accordance with the hotel procedures & policies
  • Ensure all stock necessary for the running of the Hotel are in place & sufficient back up to meet the business needs
  • Regularly review stock levels, order where necessary from approved suppliers in line with Company Policy and Procedures
  • Report any stock discrepancies to Management at the earliest point
  • Minimise wastage
  • Ensure safekeeping of Company property
  • Ensure safekeeping of guest property
  • Ensure high level of cleanliness within the Hotel
  • Rectify or report to Management any problem which may be detrimental to the Hotel’s business or customer opinion of the Hotel
  • Be fully aware of budgets and targets & take action where necessary
