Your new company
Brightwater are exclusively partnering with a leading investment company in Dublin, to recruit a qualified solicitor to join their growing and dynamic legal team. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of a massive National Bank that has in excess of $216bn total assets and nearly 20,000 employees. The strategic purpose of the Dublin investment firm is to facilitate growth and diversity in Europe through stock lending, repurchase/reverse purchase and total return swap transactions with EU and Pan Asian financial institutions.
Your new role
Reporting directly into and liaising closely with, the General Counsel, you will provide advice and assistance in respect of corporate governance issues and perform some company secretarial functions. More specifically you will assist with:
- General Irish legislative and regulatory matters (MifFiD, CRD, IV/CRR, EMIR, Companies Act, Market Abuse, Central Bank of Ireland codes and guidance, ESMA & other EU guidance, AML, CTF, Tax)
- Drafting and negotiation of trade documentation (GMSLA, ISDA, GMRA, trade confirmations) and new product proposals;
- Corporate governance advices, including provision of company secretarial assistance;
- providing legal support for their project-based deliverables (e.g. MIFID II/MiFIR, SFTR, MAD/MAD 2, BRRD, CRD IV/CRR); and
- Assisting with the monitoring and assessment of their activities for compliance with local and Group requirements (via regulatory mapping and periodic compliance risk assessment).
Your Knowledge skills & experience
The role demands frequent interaction with regulatory bodies’ therefore excellent communication, presentation and technical abilities will be required. Whilst a strong academic and professional background is a pre-requisite; drive, adaptability and a “can-do” attitude are keenly sought attributes. You will be dynamic and a committed team-player with a real interest in developing broad-based experience within a growing trading firm environment.
Prior to obtaining your solicitor qualification, you will preferably have at least a 2:1 degree in Law, Finance or other relevant area (exceptional candidates who are not legally qualified but who have solid trade experience will be considered)
You will offer experience from a leading financial institution in Belfast or a regional company and you will be motivated to pursue a career in the financial services industry.
You will be commercially aware when it comes to trades/investments and the financial services industry in general and demonstrate an ability to integrate into a diverse team, whilst showing a willingness to work over a broad range of matters, rather than having a single minded focus.
You will of course be open to relocating to Dublin to take advantage of this opportunity also.
