Site Quality Manager

  • To achieve the daily standards set out by the BRC global standard for food safety and to meet all customer codes of practice and technical standards.


  • Ensure BRC Grade A is maintained.


  • To ensure that plant hygiene is managed and maintained to the agreed standard.


  • To ensure that functional KPI ‘s are in place to support operational excellence and continual improvement agenda. 


  • To work with the Technical and Quality teams with the goal to ensuring that product development, trials and activities are introduced to Operations in a controlled fashion with due consideration for the equipment, process and operational limitations. The Technical and Quality team will be involved in product development trials from the original concept to the first production runs.


  • Customer Complaints – The production of quality products is essential to the retention of customer loyalty and future profitability.  Need to insure in-house processes and procedures guarantee that product is produced to specification.
  • To ensure that all agreed KPI measurements on the daily and weekly quality dashboard are recorded and corrective actions are agreed for continuous improvement towards the required standard 


  • Ensure all customer requirements and standards are incorporated into the Site quality management system


  • Ensure customer technical visits and audits meet the required standard to maintain a green status.


  • Responsible for ensuring that the Cleaning and hygiene control of the production plant are to the required standards and that appropriate validation and verification  are  in place.


  • Responsible for ensuring that the HACCP management process is in place and reviewed to an adequate frequency.


  • Ensure that product quality standards are clear to all operators, senior operators, production managers and that zero defects is the required target.  Support should be given to the shift manager and their teams to ensure that product quality is monitored and action taken to ensure quality and hygiene standards are maintained.


  • A proactive approach to eliminate customer complaints needs to be developed with multi functional teams. Statistical analysis of product quality and customer complaints to be communicated to Operations on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • An overall Plant quality score of 100% is the target.  The necessary procedures and processes need to be implemented in order to achieve such scores.


  • Management of Departmental spend to meet budget is a requirement. A stretch target of 20% savings of departmental budgets will be in place.


  • Health and Safety – A proactive approach to Health and safety is required. Close out of all accidents and near misses within the guidelines set out by the Health and Safety Manager is the minimum standard. SUSA contact score of 4 is required for the plant and both Technical and Quality personnel will be key contributors to this score.


  • There is a responsibility to support the operational excellence agenda   and ensure that all necessary KPI trackers are in place to demonstrate continuous improvement


  • To liaise with the technical and development teams to support excellent product development and correctly  planned launches   


  • Succession Planning & Training – In order to allow employee development and the continued success of the business it is essential that succession plans are drafted, clearly identifying potential candidates for key roles and training / development needs. Key roles that require succession plans are:


  • Technical Manager
  • Quality Manager
  • QC supervisors
  • Senior QC Operators
  • Bakery/ Topping and Packing technologist


    This individual will be value driven with a proven track record in managing activities within a FMCG environment through the resources available to them.  Ideally 3-5 years within the FMCG at management level.  The ideal candidate will be driven and ambitious and will be the primary interface between the R&D, Marketing and Operations departments. They will therefore have ownership of all aspects of the team outputs.


  • Constantly strive to raise the Standards for all processes and people within their control, heavy emphasis on procedural activities and quality integration in Operations.
  • Ability to identify potential problems within Product development from a Quality perspective.
  • Have the ability to identify and nurture talented staff within the business.
  • Positively influence people from all departments.
  • Greater team engagement.
  • Use resources effectively.



  • Management experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Diploma or equivalent in a Science, Technology, Engineering related discipline.
  • Experience in the application of ‘Lean Tools’.
  • Financial awareness.
  • Exposure to NPD in a FMCG manufacturing environment..
  • Production Process.
  • BRC Standards and Customer codes of practice.
  • Supplier Auditing Code of Practice.
